The Kappa Sigma Fraternity at USC won the inter-fraternity sports trophy several times and one of the sports we really excelled at was softball (not that we didn't excel in football, basketball, tennis, bowling, handball, etc).  I played third and outfield on occasions.  After college, we organized a fast pitch softball team but that was a disaster for me, caught a line drive on tip of my righthand ring finger, broke it good, ouch; no more fastpitch.  After moving to Manhattan Beach, Dan Dominy invited me to play on the Grey Advertising team which was good competition and later on Dan organized a couple of his own teams, Steve's at the Beach being the best one; my nephew Matt Metzler was our batboy and Toni kept score.    On those teams I usually played rover or outfield but my hitting was the best.   I could usually take an outside pitch down the right field line for singles or doubles at a .667 clip.  We even played in a couple of Over The Line Tournaments.  I Played a few times on the Marvin Garden's team in Aspen and attended the reunion game in 2004.  After moving to Fair Oaks, I played on some co-ed teams and eventually quit do to "body worn out syndrome".  Still haven't made it to San Diego for the Ultimate Over the Line Tournament.
